EURO SUSTAINABLE FUTURE: AN ERASMUS+ MOBILITY OF YOUTH WORKERS 2025

By: Rylea Bott

Through 23 de mayo hasta el 30 de mayo de 2025, the Ilewasi team hosted an Erasmus+ + youth training mobility project called Euro Sustainable Future in Benicassim, Spain

Erasmus+ is the EU Programme in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport for the 2021-2027 period. Education, training, youth, and sport are key areas that support citizens in their personal and professional development. High-quality, inclusive education and training, as well as informal and non-formal learning, ultimately equip young people and participants of all ages with the qualifications and skills needed for their meaningful participation in democratic society, intercultural understanding, and the successful transition to the labour market. Building on the success of the programme in the 2014-2020 period, Erasmus+ strengthens its efforts to increase the number of opportunities offered to even more participants and to a wider range of organisations, focusing on the qualitative impact of the Programme and contributing to more inclusive and cohesive, greener, and digitally fit societies.

This project included participants from several countries: Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, and Serbia. The goal of this training trip was to empower youth to foster inclusion, leadership, and social change through creativity, solidarity, and education. We did innovative activities to inspire participants to think outside of the box and apply what they have learned!

This was an amazing experience. I met a lot of new people, was exposed to other cultures and ideas, and I learned a lot about the European Union's goals and priorities.

This experience was truly unforgettable. I had the opportunity to connect with incredible people from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspectives. I also gained valuable insights into the European Union’s goals and priorities. Learning about its commitment to democracy, sustainability, and social cohesion helped me understand the broader impact of international cooperation. It was fascinating to see how these policies shape communities and influence the future of Europe.

The biggest lesson I learned on this trip was that there are so many ways to solve a problem. I saw firsthand how creativity, collaboration, and innovation play a crucial role in addressing challenges like climate change, resource management, and social equity. Some communities focus on renewable energy initiatives, while others prioritize circular economies or grassroots movements. Seeing these diverse approaches reinforced the idea that sustainability isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept—rather, it thrives on adaptability and inclusivity.

My favorite part of the experience was designing creative ways to educate young people about the 2030 Agenda. There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the European Union to achieve in the 2030 Agenda. In this training mobility, we highlighted the 5 P’s: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership. Each day of the trip, we focused on one of the five Ps. Together, we’ll create sustainable and digital workshops where participants shape solutions for a better future. through interactive games, catchy songs, or humorous memes, each activity made learning fun and accessible. It was incredible to see how creativity could be used as a tool to break down complex sustainability topics and make them engaging for a younger audience.

What made it even more special was the enthusiasm of the other participants. Everyone actively contributed, whether by brainstorming new ideas, singing along, or sharing their own interpretations through memes. The energy in the room was contagious, and it reinforced the power of collaboration in education. Seeing people connect with the material in such a dynamic and entertaining way was truly inspiring, proving that learning about sustainability doesn’t have to be dry or formal—it can be interactive, exciting, and deeply impactful.

This training trip was designed to empower youth to foster inclusion, leadership, and social change through creativity, solidarity, and education. Through innovative activities, we not only engaged in meaningful discussions but also explored unique ways to educate and inspire action.

In conclusion, this experience deepened my understanding of the European Union’s approach to sustainable development, showing me the importance of collaboration, creativity, and informed leadership in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.
