AYAT, UNA VOLUNTARIA EUROPEA (ESC) QUE PARTICIPA EN ENS COMPLEMENTEM EN ALMASSORA

My name is Ayat and I am from Jordan, and I’m doing my European Solidarity Corps (ESC) which is the new European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe with iLewasi in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. 

Castellón de la Plana is a city in eastern Spain. In the center, the Gothic-style Concatedral de Santa Maria has an octagonal bell tower (El Fadrí).

The modernist Museu de Belles Arts specializes in archaeology, ethnology and art, with a collection of Valencian ceramics. On the nearby Costa Azahar, Pinar Beach is known for its beach sports and pine forest. The Columbretes Islands are a nesting ground for rare birds.

This project is belonging to the Sustainable Development Goals under goal number 10 (reduce inequalities) number (4) Quality Education and number (5) Gender Equality. 

We had our first workshop in Almanzora which is a small city in Castellón. Its name, derives from the Arabic al-Mansura, "place of victory", and has been passed on from the city to which is shared with a river. The area has been settled at least since Roman times.

We went to “Centre d’Esplai de Servicios Sociales de Almassora” and we have met with some girls in a community project. 

We played a game “Stone, paper, scissors” then we gave them 15 minutes to write 5 things that they want to add / change on their rights for them or for their neighbourhood countries. And Once they done we started discuss each sentence and said what they wrote and why they think that rights is important and how we can change them.  Ilewasi team had mentioned to them about the SDGs and goals that we are working on it under the same topic of the workshop.  

Finally, we had the group photo and they filled out the satisfaction survey about the workshop.

El PROGRAMA ENS COMPLEMENTEM es un programa para fomentar la integración de niños, niñas y adolescentes de Almassora y sus familias, principalmente focalizado en cualquier forma de discriminación, contribuyendo a la mejora de sus condiciones de vida y promoviendo el voluntariado y la Mediación Intercultural financiado por el Ayuntamiento de Almassora.
